Here's what we know:
- Most candles are made from paraffin, a by-product of petroleum. This material releases numerous toxic and carcinogenic substances such as acetone and benzene.
- The fragrances are mostly synthetic and therefore not recommended.
- Candles are often made at the other end of the world (1/4 of candle production in the EU is imported from China).
- There is a redundancy in the candle market, which all too often offers candles in classic transparent glass jars, sometimes with a bit of imagination on the labels.
The basis of my project is to enhance the value of the candle, both in terms of its use and its production: by creating the decorative candle made with the right materials in Europe and especially in France , while working on an updcycling concept for candle jars once the wax has been used up. Because a well-made candle lasts a long time and, above all, we want to keep it.
